Why Being Organized Matters

Hey Blog Readers!

A while back, I had been tasked with spiffing up our warehouse (thanks to the many volunteer groups who have helped out ^.^) As much as I missed being on my work site during those times, I must say… Taking a hot mess and turning it into something beautiful is my anti-drug.

^ Me at the beginning of an organization project, tbh.

On the list of tasks to be completed were:

– Moving stuff from a pile to a different pile.
– Cleaning and reorganizing extra trim and lumber.
– Performing open heart surgery on our storage container full of scaffolding materials.
– Mudding.

So naturally, I started with the messy stuff.

I wish I had a picture of how it looked before I started….

Those 90° angles! Those stacks!

For a whole week, I was taking over on Clouet with volunteers and out of all the things I helped them accomplish, my proudest moment was getting the tool shed to a more functional and organized state of being.

After!

Ok… It might not look like much of a difference, but I promise it was! Walkways were opened up, tools were categorized and consolidated, trash was throw out, floors were swept, things were stacked, hung up and sorted! SORTED!!!

When all was said and done, that tool shed was a masterpiece. I could literally feel the stress melt away. Or maybe that was the 110° heat. I don’t know. All I know is things became easier to find, they had their place and time was saved in the long run.

And that, my friends, is why being organized matters.
