The Week We Finished Drywall on Laine

(Also everything else).

Now I know what you’re thinking — “What’s Cher’s real hair color?” Brown. But if you’re ALSO thinking about how the drywall at Laine has been done since November, you would be incorrect. Because as you might remember, for three. months.

I have been looking at THIS in my living room:
Wall 1

It is a cluster of electrical wires sticking out of the wall and the corresponding wall patch to be placed over top of them once electricians finished their work.

So for all of my former volunteers, you know how much this moment means to me. All the weeks and months of “Oh yeah, that’s not done yet so skip over there” and “Do everything except this wall” have led us to our final days at Laine… and in two seconds, that wall patch was d o n e.

First, it was screwed into the studs.

Then the seams between drywall pieces were mudded over.

Once it was dry and sanded, it got a bit of ~texture~.

Then we did trim BECAUSE I’M IMPATIENT.

THREE. MONTHS.

Once the texture was dry, the patch got painted, then painted again.

And last but probably least, an outlet cover. (‘.’)
