Welcome to the Project Homecoming Scrapbook

Posted November 6th, 2008

This is where our construction managers and assistants will post photos showing the progress on each of our homes currently in reconstruction.

If you want to know when updates are posted, you can subscribe to our RSS feed, which is linked from the cute little orange button in the sidebar. If that doesn’t make any sense to you, read this.

We have made a lot of progress on Kim and Mark’s house over the past three weeks. A crew from Stockton California insulated the whole place in two days, then did a good deal of the sheet rock for the remainder of the week. They had Kim and her daughter over for dinner on Friday night and it was fun to hear all of Kim’s knowledge on the history of New Orleans. The next group was from Oregon, and by the end of the week they’d finished all of the sheetrock. This week, as a group from Florida finished siding and painting the outside of the place, AHL wall professional drywall finishers came in and mudded the place in two days.

Alton and Linda – Downman Road

Posted June 22nd, 2009

By special request!  Sorry to you 7707 Downman Road people to have not been very diligent about getting these pictures up.  Here are some exterior shots to tide y’all over.  Linda’s been working like crazy at night and using the day to catch up on rest.  As soon as I can get in the house to take some shots of all the beautiful work inside, they’ll be up here.  But for now, here are some to tide y’all over of the outside now that it’s been beautifully purple-d.

New Reynes St – Just Getting Started

Posted June 19th, 2009

We’re on week 3 of a new house on Reynes St.  It’s a miracle project.  I got to talking to this woman outside of Kermit Ruffins show at Vaughn’s bar in the Ninth Ward who told me she moved into town two days earlier from Fort Worth and needed her house rebuilt.  I told her to call us and a month or so later, we were finishing gutting it.  It’s a God thing, I suppose.  Since then, we’ve put on a new roof, fixed some floor joists, laid sub-floor, and re-framed all the spots with termite damage.  Thanks to the groups from Raleigh, NC (and their friends from Wisconsin and Nebraska), Chambersburg, PA, and Bridgeport, IL for their great work!
